A vulnerability was found in Piwigo up to 2.3.3 (Photo Gallery Software). It has been rated as problematic. Affected by this issue is an unknown code of the file install.php. The manipulation of the argument dl with an unknown input leads to a path traversal vulnerability. Using CWE to declare the problem leads to CWE-22. The product uses external input to construct a pathname that is intended to identify a file or directory that is located underneath a restricted parent directory, but the product does not properly neutralize special elements within the pathname that can cause the pathname to resolve to a location that is outside of the restricted directory. Directory traversal vulnerability in install.php in Piwigo before 2.4.7 allows remote attackers to read and delete arbitrary files via a .. (dot dot) in the dl parameter.

The weakness was released 03/13/2013 by High-Tech Bridge SA with High-Tech Bridge SA (Website). The advisory is available at htbridge.com. This vulnerability is handled as CVE-2013-1469 since 01/29/2013. The exploitation is known to be difficult. The attack may be launched remotely. No form of authentication is required for exploitation. Technical details as well as a public exploit are known. This vulnerability is assigned to T1006 by the MITRE ATT&CK project.
