A vulnerability was found in ProFTPD up to 1.2.9 (File Transfer Software) and classified as critical. Affected by this issue is an unknown function of the component ACL CIDR Address Handler. ProFTPD 1.2.9 treats the Allow and Deny directives for CIDR based ACL entries as if they were AllowAll, which could allow FTP clients to bypass intended access restrictions.

The bug was discovered 11/04/2003. The weakness was shared 05/03/2004 by Jindrich Makovicka (Website). The advisory is shared for download at bugs.proftpd.org. This vulnerability is handled as CVE-2004-0432 since 05/03/2004. The attack may be launched remotely. No form of authentication is required for exploitation.
