Details
A vulnerability was found in iD libdigidoc 3.6.0.0. It has been rated as critical. This issue affects the function handleStartDataFile of the file DigiDocSAXParser.c of the component Parser. The manipulation with an unknown input leads to a path traversal vulnerability. Using CWE to declare the problem leads to CWE-22. The product uses external input to construct a pathname that is intended to identify a file or directory that is located underneath a restricted parent directory, but the product does not properly neutralize special elements within the pathname that can cause the pathname to resolve to a location that is outside of the restricted directory. Impacted is confidentiality, integrity, and availability. The summary by CVE is:
Absolute path traversal vulnerability in the handleStartDataFile function in DigiDocSAXParser.c in libdigidoc 3.6.0.0, as used in ID-software before 3.7.2 and other products, allows remote attackers to overwrite arbitrary files via a filename beginning with / (slash) or \ (backslash) in a DDOC file.
The weakness was disclosed 08/29/2013 (Website). The advisory is shared at svnweb.mageia.org. The identification of this vulnerability is CVE-2013-5648 since 08/28/2013.
