GNOME libsvg before 2.39.0 allows remote attackers to read arbitrary files via an XML document containing an external entity declaration in conjunction with an entity reference, related to an XML External Entity (XXE) issue.

The weakness was disclosed 10/09/2013 as Bug 691708 as not defined bug report (Bugzilla). The advisory is available at bugzilla.gnome.org. This vulnerability was named CVE-2013-1881 since 02/19/2013. The attack can be initiated remotely. No form of authentication is required for a successful exploitation. The technical details are unknown and an exploit is not available.

The vulnerability scanner Nessus provides a plugin with the ID 72268 (CentOS 6 : librsvg2 (CESA-2014:0127)), which helps to determine the existence of the flaw in a target environment. It is assigned to the family CentOS Local Security Checks.
