SPIP up to 3.0.11 connect code injection

CVSS Meta Temp Score
CVSS is a standardized scoring system to determine possibilities of attacks. The Temp Score considers temporal factors like disclosure, exploit and countermeasures. The unique Meta Score calculates the average score of different sources to provide a normalized scoring system.
Current Exploit Price (≈)
Our analysts are monitoring exploit markets and are in contact with vulnerability brokers. The range indicates the observed or calculated exploit price to be seen on exploit markets. A good indicator to understand the monetary effort required for and the popularity of an attack.
CTI Interest Score
Our Cyber Threat Intelligence team is monitoring different web sites, mailing lists, exploit markets and social media networks. The CTI Interest Score identifies the interest of attackers and the security community for this specific vulnerability in real-time. A high score indicates an elevated risk to be targeted for this vulnerability.

Detailsinfo

A vulnerability was found in SPIP up to 3.0.11 (Content Management System). It has been declared as critical. This vulnerability affects an unknown code. The manipulation of the argument connect with an unknown input leads to a code injection vulnerability. The CWE definition for the vulnerability is CWE-94. The product constructs all or part of a code segment using externally-influenced input from an upstream component, but it does not neutralize or incorrectly neutralizes special elements that could modify the syntax or behavior of the intended code segment. As an impact it is known to affect confidentiality, integrity, and availability. CVE summarizes:

The Security Screen (_core_/securite/ecran_securite.php) before 1.1.8 for SPIP, as used in SPIP 3.0.x before 3.0.12, allows remote attackers to execute arbitrary PHP via the connect parameter.

The weakness was disclosed 11/17/2013 (Website). The advisory is available at zone.spip.org. This vulnerability was named CVE-2013-4557 since 06/12/2013. The exploitation appears to be easy. The attack can be initiated remotely. No form of authentication is required for a successful exploitation. Successful exploitation requires user interaction by the victim. Technical details are known, but there is no available exploit. This vulnerability is assigned to T1059 by the MITRE ATT&CK project.

It is declared as highly functional. The vulnerability scanner Nessus provides a plugin with the ID 70981 (Debian DSA-2794-1 : spip - several vulnerabilities), which helps to determine the existence of the flaw in a target environment. It is assigned to the family Debian Local Security Checks.

Upgrading to version 3.0.11 eliminates this vulnerability.

The vulnerability is also documented in the databases at Tenable (70981), SecurityFocus (BID 63637†), Secunia (SA55551†) and Vulnerability Center (SBV-42493†).
