A vulnerability was found in Augeas. It has been declared as problematic. This vulnerability affects the function transform_save of the file transform.c. The transform_save function in transform.c in Augeas before 1.0.0 allows local users to overwrite arbitrary files and obtain sensitive information via a symlink attack on a .augnew file.

The weakness was shared 11/23/2013 (Website). The advisory is available at github.com. This vulnerability was named CVE-2012-0786 since 01/19/2012. Local access is required to approach this attack.
