A vulnerability, which was classified as critical, was found in Adobe Flash Player up to 11.4.402.278 (Multimedia Player Software). Affected is some unknown processing. The weakness was published 10/08/2012 by Mateusz Jurczyk, Gynvael Coldwind and Fermin Serna with Google Security Team as APSB12-22 as confirmed advisory (Website). The advisory is shared for download at adobe.com. The public release has been coordinated with the vendor. This vulnerability is traded as CVE-2012-5255 since 10/04/2012. It is possible to launch the attack remotely. The exploitation doesn't require any form of authentication. There are neither technical details nor an exploit publicly available.
The vulnerability scanner Nessus provides a plugin with the ID 62479 (Adobe AIR 3.x <= 3.4.0.2540 Multiple Vulnerabilities (APSB12-22)), which helps to determine the existence of the flaw in a target environment. The commercial vulnerability scanner Qualys is able to test this issue with plugin 166696 (SUSE Enterprise Linux Security update for flash-player (SUSE-SU-2012:1326-2)).
Upgrading to version 11.4.402.287 or 10.3.183.29 eliminates this vulnerability. The upgrade is hosted for download at adobe.com. The problem might be mitigated by replacing the product with Microsoft Silverlight, Java or Javascript as an alternative.
