A vulnerability has been found in Cynthia Fridsma Horizon Quick Content Management System up to 3.2 (Content Management System) and classified as problematic. This vulnerability affects an unknown code in the library lib/functions/d-load.php. The manipulation of the argument start with an unknown input leads to a path traversal vulnerability. The CWE definition for the vulnerability is CWE-22. The product uses external input to construct a pathname that is intended to identify a file or directory that is located underneath a restricted parent directory, but the product does not properly neutralize special elements within the pathname that can cause the pathname to resolve to a location that is outside of the restricted directory. Directory traversal vulnerability in lib/functions/d-load.php in Horizon Quick Content Management System (QCMS) 4.0 and earlier allows remote attackers to read arbitrary files via a .. (dot dot) in the start parameter.

The weakness was presented 01/09/2014 with High-Tech Bridge Security Research Lab (Website). The advisory is shared for download at htbridge.com. This vulnerability was named CVE-2013-7138 since 12/18/2013. The exploitation appears to be easy. The attack can be initiated remotely. No form of authentication is required for a successful exploitation. Technical details and also a public exploit are known. The MITRE ATT&CK project declares the attack technique as T1006.
