A vulnerability was found in WellinTech KingAlarm and Event up to 2.0.1. It has been classified as critical. This affects some unknown functionality of the component Access Restriction. WellinTech KingSCADA before 3.1.2, KingAlarm&Event before 3.1, and KingGraphic before 3.1.2 perform authentication on the KAEClientManager console rather than on the server, which allows remote attackers to bypass intended access restrictions and discover credentials via a crafted packet to TCP port 8130.
The weakness was published 01/15/2014 by Andrea Micalizzi with Zero Day Initiative (Website). It is possible to read the advisory at ics-cert.us-cert.gov. This vulnerability is uniquely identified as CVE-2013-2826 since 04/11/2013. The exploitability is told to be easy. It is possible to initiate the attack remotely. No form of authentication is needed for exploitation. The technical details are unknown and an exploit is not publicly available. The attack technique deployed by this issue is T1068 according to MITRE ATT&CK.
The commercial vulnerability scanner Qualys is able to test this issue with plugin 121720 (WellinTech KingSCADA, KingAlarm Event, and KingGraphic Multiple Vulnerabilities).
Upgrading to version 2.0.2 eliminates this vulnerability.
