userpref.c in libimobiledevice 1.1.4, when $HOME and $XDG_CONFIG_HOME are not set, allows local users to overwrite arbitrary files via a symlink attack on (1) HostCertificate.pem, (2) HostPrivateKey.pem, (3) libimobiledevicerc, (4) RootCertificate.pem, or (5) RootPrivateKey.pem in /tmp/root/.config/libimobiledevice/.

The weakness was shared 01/19/2014 by Marc Deslauriers (Website). It is possible to read the advisory at bugs.launchpad.net. The identification of this vulnerability is CVE-2013-2142 since 02/19/2013. Attacking locally is a requirement. No form of authentication is needed for a successful exploitation. Technical details of the vulnerability are known, but there is no available exploit.
