Details
A vulnerability classified as problematic was found in Juniper Junos up to 13.x (Router Operating System). This vulnerability affects an unknown function of the component OSPF Handler. The manipulation with an unknown input leads to a use of multiple resources with duplicate identifier vulnerability. The CWE definition for the vulnerability is CWE-694. The product uses multiple resources that can have the same identifier, in a context in which unique identifiers are required. As an impact it is known to affect confidentiality, integrity, and availability. CVE summarizes:
The OSPF implementation in Juniper Junos through 13.x, JunosE, and ScreenOS through 6.3.x does not consider the possibility of duplicate Link State ID values in Link State Advertisement (LSA) packets before performing operations on the LSA database, which allows remote attackers to cause a denial of service (routing disruption) or obtain sensitive packet information via a crafted LSA packet, a related issue to CVE-2013-0149.
The weakness was presented 01/23/2014 by Dr. Gabi Nakibly with Rafael Advanced Defense Systems as confirmed advisory (CERT.org). The advisory is available at kb.cert.org. This vulnerability was named CVE-2013-7313 since 01/23/2014. The attack needs to approached within the local network. No form of authentication is required for a successful exploitation. The technical details are unknown and an exploit is not available.
The vulnerability scanner Nessus provides a plugin with the ID 69194 (Juniper Junos OSPF Protocol Vulnerability (JSA10582)), which helps to determine the existence of the flaw in a target environment. It is assigned to the family Junos Local Security Checks.
The vulnerability is also documented in the databases at X-Force (95393), Tenable (69194), SecurityFocus (BID 65169†) and Vulnerability Center (SBV-43924†). If you want to get best quality of vulnerability data, you may have to visit VulDB.
