Details
A vulnerability classified as critical has been found in GE Intelligent Platforms Proficy Hmi and scada Cimplicity up to 8.1 (SCADA Software). Affected is an unknown code block of the file CimWebServer.exe. The manipulation with an unknown input leads to a path traversal vulnerability. CWE is classifying the issue as CWE-22. The product uses external input to construct a pathname that is intended to identify a file or directory that is located underneath a restricted parent directory, but the product does not properly neutralize special elements within the pathname that can cause the pathname to resolve to a location that is outside of the restricted directory. This is going to have an impact on confidentiality, integrity, and availability. CVE summarizes:
Directory traversal vulnerability in CimWebServer.exe (aka the WebView component) in GE Intelligent Platforms Proficy HMI/SCADA - CIMPLICITY before 8.2 SIM 24, and Proficy Process Systems with CIMPLICITY, allows remote attackers to execute arbitrary code via a crafted message to TCP port 10212, aka ZDI-CAN-1623.
