SystemTap 1.7, 1.6.7, and probably other versions, when unprivileged mode is enabled, allows local users to obtain sensitive information from kernel memory or cause a denial of service (kernel panic and crash) via vectors related to crafted DWARF data, which triggers a read of an invalid pointer.
The weakness was released 02/04/2014 by Vincent Danen (Website). The advisory is available at sourceware.org. This vulnerability is traded as CVE-2012-0875 since 01/19/2012. Local access is required to approach this attack. The exploitation doesn't require any form of authentication. The technical details are unknown and an exploit is not available.
