A vulnerability was found in Apple Safari up to 7.0.4 (Web Browser) and classified as problematic. This issue affects some unknown processing of the component Address Bar. The manipulation with an unknown input leads to a encoding error vulnerability. Using CWE to declare the problem leads to CWE-172. WebKit in Apple iOS before 7.1.2 and Apple Safari before 6.1.5 and 7.x before 7.0.5 does not properly encode domain names in URLs, which allows remote attackers to spoof the address bar via a crafted web site.
The weakness was disclosed 06/30/2014 by Erling Ellingsen (cunzhang) with Facebook as HT6293 as confirmed advisory (Website). It is possible to read the advisory at support.apple.com. The public release has been coordinated in cooperation with Apple. The identification of this vulnerability is CVE-2014-1345 since 01/08/2014. The attack may be initiated remotely. No form of authentication is needed for a successful exploitation. The technical details are unknown and an exploit is not publicly available.
