A vulnerability has been found in PHP 5.4.29/5.5.13 (Programming Language Software) and classified as problematic. Affected by this vulnerability is the function cdf_read_short_sector of the component fileinfo. The manipulation with an unknown input leads to a memory corruption vulnerability. The CWE definition for the vulnerability is CWE-119. The product performs operations on a memory buffer, but it can read from or write to a memory location that is outside of the intended boundary of the buffer. As an impact it is known to affect confidentiality.
The weakness was disclosed 06/26/2014 by Francisco Alonso with Red Hat Security Response Team as confirmed changelog entry (Website). It is possible to read the advisory at github.com. This vulnerability is known as CVE-2014-0207 since 12/03/2013. The exploitation appears to be easy. The attack can be launched remotely. The exploitation doesn't need any form of authentication. Technical details of the vulnerability are known, but there is no available exploit.
