The web interface in CUPS before 2.0 does not check that files have world-readable permissions, which allows remote attackers to obtains sensitive information via unspecified vectors.

The weakness was released 07/23/2014 by Salvatore Bonaccorso with Tor (Website). The advisory is shared at cups.org. The identification of this vulnerability is CVE-2014-5031 since 07/22/2014. An attack has to be approached locally. No form of authentication is needed for a successful exploitation. Neither technical details nor an exploit are publicly available.
