A vulnerability classified as critical was found in WordPress up to 3.9.1 (Content Management System). This vulnerability affects an unknown part of the component GetID3 Library. The manipulation with an unknown input leads to a xml external entity reference vulnerability. The CWE definition for the vulnerability is CWE-611. The product processes an XML document that can contain XML entities with URIs that resolve to documents outside of the intended sphere of control, causing the product to embed incorrect documents into its output. As an impact it is known to affect confidentiality, and integrity.
The weakness was shared 08/06/2014 by Ivan Novikov as WordPress 3.9.2 Security Release as confirmed release notes (Website). The advisory is available at wordpress.org. The attack can be initiated remotely. A single authentication is necessary for exploitation. The technical details are unknown and an exploit is not available.
