A vulnerability was found in Microsoft SQL Server 2008 R2 SP2/2008 SP3/2012 SP1/2014 (Database Software). It has been classified as critical. The commercial vulnerability scanner Qualys is able to test this issue with plugin 90973 (Microsoft SQL Server Elevation of Privilege and Denial of Service Vulnerability (MS14-044)).
Applying the patch MS14-044 is able to eliminate this problem. The bugfix is ready for download at technet.microsoft.com. A possible mitigation has been published immediately after the disclosure of the vulnerability. A manual reboot is required to return the system to normal operation.
