A vulnerability was found in Microsoft Internet Explorer up to 11 (Web Browser). It has been declared as critical. This vulnerability affects an unknown function. The product performs operations on a memory buffer, but it can read from or write to a memory location that is outside of the intended boundary of the buffer. The issue has been introduced in 03/22/2001. The weakness was published 09/09/2014 by AbdulAziz Hariri with HP as MS14-052 as confirmed bulletin (Technet) via ZDI (Zero Day Initiative). The advisory is shared for download at technet.microsoft.com. This vulnerability was named CVE-2014-4065 since 04/10/2014. The attack can be initiated remotely. No form of authentication is required for a successful exploitation. Successful exploitation requires user interaction by the victim. Applying the patch MS14-052 is able to eliminate this problem. The bugfix is ready for download at technet.microsoft.com. A possible mitigation has been published immediately after the disclosure of the vulnerability. Furthermore it is possible to detect and prevent this kind of attack with TippingPoint and the filter 16704.
