A vulnerability, which was classified as critical, has been found in Symantec Endpoint Protection Manager 12.1 (Anti-Malware Software). ConsoleServlet in Symantec Endpoint Protection Manager (SEPM) 12.1 before RU5 allows remote attackers to write to arbitrary files via unspecified vectors.
The weakness was presented 11/05/2014 by Stefan Viehböck with SEC Consult Vulnerability Lab as File 129000 as confirmed advisory (Packetstorm). It is possible to read the advisory at packetstormsecurity.com. The identification of this vulnerability is CVE-2014-3439 since 05/09/2014. The exploitation is known to be easy. Access to the local network is required for this attack to succeed. No form of authentication is needed for a successful exploitation. Technical details are unknown but a public exploit is available.
