A vulnerability, which was classified as problematic, was found in Cisco IOS (Router Operating System). Affected is some unknown processing of the component DLSw Feature. The manipulation with an unknown input leads to a information disclosure vulnerability. CWE is classifying the issue as CWE-200. The DLSw implementation in Cisco IOS does not initialize packet buffers, which allows remote attackers to obtain sensitive credential information from process memory via a session on TCP port 2067, aka Bug ID CSCur14014.
The weakness was shared 11/17/2014 by Tate Hansen, John McLeod and Kyle Rainey with FishNet Security as CSCur14014 as confirmed security notice (Website). The advisory is available at tools.cisco.com. This vulnerability is traded as CVE-2014-7992 since 10/08/2014. The exploitability is told to be easy. It is possible to launch the attack remotely. The exploitation doesn't require any form of authentication. Technical details are unknown but a public exploit is available. This vulnerability is assigned to T1592 by the MITRE ATT&CK project.
The exploit is shared for download at packetstormsecurity.com. It is declared as highly functional. As 0-day the estimated underground price was around $25k-$100k.
Upgrading to version 15.5(1.8)T eliminates this vulnerability. The upgrade is hosted for download at software.cisco.com. Applying a patch is able to eliminate this problem.
