A vulnerability has been found in Cisco IOS XR 5.2.1.BASE/5.2.3.BASE (Router Operating System) and classified as problematic. Affected by this vulnerability is some unknown functionality. Race condition in the lighttpd module in Cisco IOS XR 5.1 and earlier on Network Convergence System 6000 devices allows remote attackers to cause a denial of service (process reload) by establishing many TCP sessions, aka Bug ID CSCuq45239.

The weakness was disclosed 11/25/2014 with Cisco as CSCuq45239 as confirmed security notice (Website). It is possible to read the advisory at tools.cisco.com. This vulnerability is known as CVE-2014-8005 since 10/08/2014. The exploitation appears to be easy. The attack can be launched remotely. The exploitation doesn't need any form of authentication.
