A vulnerability, which was classified as critical, was found in Clam Antivirus up to 0.98.4 (Anti-Malware Software). This affects an unknown part of the component PE File Handler. Heap-based buffer overflow in the cli_scanpe function in libclamav/pe.c in ClamAV before 0.98.5 allows remote attackers to cause a denial of service (crash) via a crafted y0da Crypter PE file.
The weakness was published 11/18/2014 by Damien Millescamps as confirmed release notes (Website) via ClamAV 0.98.5 has been released!. It is possible to read the advisory at blog.clamav.net. This vulnerability is uniquely identified as CVE-2014-9050 since 11/21/2014. It is possible to initiate the attack remotely. No form of authentication is needed for exploitation. The technical details are unknown and an exploit is not publicly available.

Upgrading to version 0.98.5 eliminates this vulnerability.
