The vulnerability scanner Nessus provides a plugin with the ID 79834 (MS14-085: Vulnerability in Microsoft Graphics Component Could Allow Information Disclosure (3013126)), which helps to determine the existence of the flaw in a target environment. It is assigned to the family Windows : Microsoft Bulletins. The commercial vulnerability scanner Qualys is able to test this issue with plugin 91000 (Microsoft Graphics Component Information Disclosure (MS14-085)).
Applying the patch MS14-085 is able to eliminate this problem. The bugfix is ready for download at technet.microsoft.com. A possible mitigation has been published immediately after the disclosure of the vulnerability. Furthermore it is possible to detect and prevent this kind of attack with TippingPoint and the filter 17127.
