A vulnerability was found in Joomla CMS (Content Management System). It has been declared as critical. This vulnerability affects an unknown code block of the component LDAP Authentication. Joomla! 2.5.x before 2.5.25, 3.x before 3.2.4, and 3.3.x before 3.3.4 allows remote attackers to authenticate and bypass intended access restrictions via vectors involving LDAP authentication.
The weakness was disclosed 09/09/2014 by Matthew Daley as confirmed advisory (Website). The advisory is available at developer.joomla.org. This vulnerability was named CVE-2014-6632 since 09/19/2014. The exploitation appears to be easy. The attack can be initiated remotely. No form of authentication is required for a successful exploitation. The technical details are unknown and an exploit is not available.
The vulnerability scanner Nessus provides a plugin with the ID 77860 (Joomla! 2.5.x < 2.5.25 / 3.x < 3.2.5 / 3.3.x < 3.3.4 Multiple Vulnerabilities), which helps to determine the existence of the flaw in a target environment. It is assigned to the family CGI abuses.
Upgrading to version 2.5.25, 3.2.4 or 3.3.4 eliminates this vulnerability.
