The Bluetooth driver in Apple OS X before 10.10.2 allows attackers to execute arbitrary code in a privileged context or cause a denial of service (arbitrary-size bzero of kernel memory) via a crafted app.
The weakness was shared 01/21/2015 by Google Security Research with Google as 136 (Website). It is possible to read the advisory at code.google.com. The identification of this vulnerability is CVE-2014-8836 since 11/14/2014. The exploitation is known to be easy. Attacking locally is a requirement. No form of authentication is needed for a successful exploitation. Technical details are unknown but a public exploit is available.
A public exploit has been developed by Google Security Research and been published immediately after the advisory. The exploit is available at exploit-db.com. It is declared as proof-of-concept. The commercial vulnerability scanner Qualys is able to test this issue with plugin 123193 (Apple Mac OS X v10.10.2 and Security Update 2015-001 Not Installed (APPLE-SA-2015-01-27-4)).
Applying a patch is able to eliminate this problem.
