The App Store process in CommerceKit Framework in Apple OS X before 10.10.2 places Apple ID credentials in App Store logs, which allows local users to obtain sensitive information by reading a file.
The weakness was shared 01/27/2015 by Sten Petersen (PanguTeam) with Digital Operatives LLC as HT204244 as confirmed advisory (Website). The advisory is available at support.apple.com. This vulnerability is traded as CVE-2014-4499 since 06/20/2014. Local access is required to approach this attack. The exploitation doesn't require any form of authentication. An issue existed in the handling of App Store logs. The App Store process could log Apple ID credentials in the log when additional logging was enabled. This issue was addressed by disallowing logging of credentials.
