A vulnerability was found in VideoLAN VLC Media Player 2.1.5 (Multimedia Player Software). It has been classified as critical. Affected is an unknown code of the component Updater. The product performs operations on a memory buffer, but it can read from or write to a memory location that is outside of the intended boundary of the buffer. It is assigned to the family SuSE Local Security Checks. The commercial vulnerability scanner Qualys is able to test this issue with plugin 167591 (OpenSuSE Security Update for vlc (openSUSE-SU-2015:0201-1)).
Applying a patch is able to eliminate this problem.
