The manipulation of the argument DateTimeZone with an unknown input leads to a information disclosure vulnerability. Using CWE to declare the problem leads to CWE-200. The weakness was presented 02/20/2015 by Taoguang Chen as confirmed mailinglist post (Full-Disclosure). The advisory is shared at seclists.org. The exploitation is known to be easy. The attack may be initiated remotely. No form of authentication is needed for a successful exploitation. Technical details as well as a public exploit are known. MITRE ATT&CK project uses the attack technique T1592 for this issue.

A public exploit has been developed by Taoguang Chen in PHP and been published immediately after the advisory. The exploit is available at packetstormsecurity.com. It is declared as proof-of-concept. We expect the 0-day to have been worth approximately $5k-$25k.

Upgrading to version 5.6.6, 5.5.22 or 5.4.38 eliminates this vulnerability.
