A vulnerability, which was classified as problematic, has been found in PaperThin Commonspot Content Server up to 8.0.0. This issue affects an unknown code block. Incomplete blacklist vulnerability in PaperThin CommonSpot before 7.0.2 and 8.x before 8.0.3 allows remote attackers to conduct cross-site scripting (XSS) attacks via a crafted string, as demonstrated by bypassing a protection mechanism that removes only the "alert" string.
The weakness was disclosed 04/15/2014 as confirmed advisory (CERT.org). It is possible to read the advisory at kb.cert.org. The identification of this vulnerability is CVE-2014-2861 since 04/15/2014. The attack may be initiated remotely. No form of authentication is needed for a successful exploitation. It demands that the victim is doing some kind of user interaction.
