The hash functionality in json-c before 0.12 allows context-dependent attackers to cause a denial of service (CPU consumption) via crafted JSON data, involving collisions.
The weakness was disclosed 04/22/2014 by Florian Weimer (Website). The advisory is available at github.com. This vulnerability is handled as CVE-2013-6371 since 11/04/2013. The exploitation is known to be easy. The attack may be launched remotely. No form of authentication is required for exploitation. The technical details are unknown and an exploit is not available.
