A vulnerability was found in PHP-Fusion 7.02.01/7.02.02/7.02.03/7.02.04/7.02.05 (Content Management System). It has been rated as problematic. This issue affects some unknown processing of the file maincore.php of the component Administration. The manipulation of the argument file with an unknown input leads to a path traversal vulnerability. Using CWE to declare the problem leads to CWE-22. The product uses external input to construct a pathname that is intended to identify a file or directory that is located underneath a restricted parent directory, but the product does not properly neutralize special elements within the pathname that can cause the pathname to resolve to a location that is outside of the restricted directory. Multiple directory traversal vulnerabilities in PHP-Fusion before 7.02.06 allow remote authenticated users to include and execute arbitrary files via a .. (dot dot) in the (1) user_theme parameter to maincore.php; or remote authenticated administrators to delete arbitrary files via the (2) enable parameter to administration/user_fields.php or (3) file parameter to administration/db_backup.php.
The weakness was released 04/30/2014 (Website). It is possible to read the advisory at php-fusion.co.uk. The identification of this vulnerability is CVE-2013-1806 since 02/19/2013. The exploitation is known to be easy. The attack may be initiated remotely. Required for exploitation is a simple authentication. Technical details as well as a public exploit are known. The attack technique deployed by this issue is T1006 according to MITRE ATT&CK.
The exploit is available at exploit-db.com. It is declared as proof-of-concept. By approaching the search of inurl:maincore.php it is possible to find vulnerable targets with Google Hacking.
Upgrading to version 7.02.05 eliminates this vulnerability.
