A vulnerability was found in IBM Maximo Asset Management up to 7.1.1.7 (Asset Management Software). It has been rated as problematic. Cross-site scripting (XSS) vulnerability in openreport.jsp in IBM Maximo Asset Management 7.x before 7.1.1.12 IFIX.20140321-1336 and 7.5.x before 7.5.0.5 IFIX006; SmartCloud Control Desk 7.x before 7.5.0.3 and 7.5.1.x before 7.5.1.2; and Tivoli IT Asset Management for IT, Tivoli Service Request Manager, Maximo Service Desk, and Change and Configuration Management Database (CCMDB) 7.x before 7.1.1.12 IFIX.20140218-1510 allows remote authenticated users to inject arbitrary web script or HTML via a crafted report parameter.
The weakness was disclosed 05/26/2014 (Website). The advisory is shared for download at www-01.ibm.com. This vulnerability is handled as CVE-2014-0825 since 01/06/2014. The attack may be launched remotely. The successful exploitation needs a simple authentication. Successful exploitation requires user interaction by the victim. There are known technical details, but no exploit is available. The MITRE ATT&CK project declares the attack technique as T1059.007.
It is declared as highly functional. By approaching the search of inurl:openreport.jsp it is possible to find vulnerable targets with Google Hacking.
Upgrading to version 7.1.1.8 eliminates this vulnerability.
