The Samsung printer firmware before 20121031 has a hardcoded read-write SNMP community, which makes it easier for remote attackers to obtain administrative access via an SNMP request.

The weakness was disclosed 11/26/2012 by Neil Smith as VU#281284 as confirmed advisory (CERT.org). It is possible to read the advisory at kb.cert.org. The vendor was not involved in the public release. This vulnerability is known as CVE-2012-4964 since 09/17/2012. Access to the local network is required for this attack to succeed.
