Buffer overflow in the SetLogFile method in Foxit.FoxitPDFSDKProCtrl.5 in Foxit PDF SDK ActiveX 2.3 through 5.0.1820 before 5.0.2.924 allows remote attackers to execute arbitrary code via a long string, related to global variables.
The weakness was disclosed 10/17/2014 by Andrea Micalizzi (rgod) (Website). The advisory is shared for download at zerodayinitiative.com. This vulnerability was named CVE-2014-8074 since 10/09/2014. The attack can be initiated remotely. No form of authentication is required for a successful exploitation. There are neither technical details nor an exploit publicly available.
The commercial vulnerability scanner Qualys is able to test this issue with plugin 122766 (Foxit ActiveX Pro SDK "SetLogFile()" ActiveX Control Buffer Overflow Vulnerability).
