Electric Cloud ElectricCommander before 4.2.6 and 5.x before 5.0.3 uses world-writable permissions for (1) eccert.pl and (2) ecconfigure.pl, which allows local users to execute arbitrary Perl code by modifying these files.
The weakness was disclosed 10/24/2014 by Sean with Dell SecureWorks (Website). The advisory is shared at xforce.iss.net. This vulnerability is known as CVE-2014-7180 since 09/25/2014. The exploitation appears to be easy. An attack has to be approached locally. The exploitation doesn't need any form of authentication. Technical details are known, but no exploit is available. MITRE ATT&CK project uses the attack technique T1068 for this issue.
Upgrading to version 5.0.1 eliminates this vulnerability.
