A vulnerability was found in Elipse E3 3.2 and classified as problematic. Affected by this issue is an unknown code of the file index.html. Elipse E3 3.x and earlier allows remote attackers to cause a denial of service (application crash and plant outage) via a rapid series of HTTP requests to index.html on TCP port 1681.
The weakness was published 11/10/2014 as not defined mailinglist post (Full-Disclosure). The advisory is shared for download at seclists.org. This vulnerability is handled as CVE-2014-8652 since 11/06/2014. The exploitation is known to be easy. The attack may be launched remotely. No form of authentication is required for exploitation. Technical details as well as a public exploit are known. The MITRE ATT&CK project declares the attack technique as T1592.004.
A public exploit has been developed by firebitsbr and been published 3 weeks after the advisory. The exploit is available at securityfocus.com. It is declared as proof-of-concept. By approaching the search of inurl:index.html it is possible to find vulnerable targets with Google Hacking. The commercial vulnerability scanner Qualys is able to test this issue with plugin 122870 (Elipse E3 Denial of Service Vulnerability).
