Details
A vulnerability, which was classified as critical, has been found in Gogits Gogs up to 0.5.5. Affected by this issue is some unknown functionality. The manipulation with an unknown input leads to a sql injection vulnerability. Using CWE to declare the problem leads to CWE-89. The product constructs all or part of an SQL command using externally-influenced input from an upstream component, but it does not neutralize or incorrectly neutralizes special elements that could modify the intended SQL command when it is sent to a downstream component. Impacted is confidentiality, integrity, and availability. CVE summarizes:
Multiple SQL injection vulnerabilities in Gogs (aka Go Git Service) 0.3.1-9 through 0.5.x before 0.5.6.1105 Beta allow remote attackers to execute arbitrary SQL commands via the q parameter to (1) api/v1/repos/search, which is not properly handled in models/repo.go, or (2) api/v1/users/search, which is not properly handled in models/user.go.
The weakness was released 11/21/2014 (Website). The advisory is shared for download at github.com. This vulnerability is handled as CVE-2014-8682 since 11/07/2014. The exploitation is known to be easy. The attack may be launched remotely. No form of authentication is required for exploitation. Technical details are unknown but a public exploit is available. The MITRE ATT&CK project declares the attack technique as T1505.
The exploit is available at exploit-db.com. It is declared as proof-of-concept.
There is no information about possible countermeasures known. It may be suggested to replace the affected object with an alternative product.
