A vulnerability was found in DukaPress up to 2.5.2. It has been declared as problematic. This vulnerability affects the function dp_img_resize in the library lib/dp_image.php. The manipulation of the argument src with an unknown input leads to a path traversal vulnerability. The CWE definition for the vulnerability is CWE-22. The product uses external input to construct a pathname that is intended to identify a file or directory that is located underneath a restricted parent directory, but the product does not properly neutralize special elements within the pathname that can cause the pathname to resolve to a location that is outside of the restricted directory. Directory traversal vulnerability in the dp_img_resize function in php/dp-functions.php in the DukaPress plugin before 2.5.4 for WordPress allows remote attackers to read arbitrary files via a .. (dot dot) in the src parameter to lib/dp_image.php.
The weakness was shared 11/28/2014 by Kacper Szurek (Website). The advisory is shared for download at wordpress.org. This vulnerability was named CVE-2014-8799 since 11/13/2014. The exploitation appears to be easy. The attack can be initiated remotely. No form of authentication is required for a successful exploitation. Technical details and also a public exploit are known. Upgrading to version 2.5.3 eliminates this vulnerability.
