A vulnerability was found in Ait-pro BulletProof Security up to .50. It has been rated as problematic. Affected by this issue is an unknown part of the file admin/htaccess/bpsunlock.php. Server-side request forgery (SSRF) vulnerability in admin/htaccess/bpsunlock.php in the BulletProof Security plugin before .51.1 for WordPress allows remote attackers to trigger outbound requests that authenticate to arbitrary databases via the dbhost parameter.
The weakness was shared 12/01/2014 by Pietro Oliva (Website). The advisory is available at wordpress.org. This vulnerability is handled as CVE-2014-8749 since 10/13/2014. The exploitation is known to be easy. The attack may be launched remotely. No form of authentication is required for exploitation. Technical details are known, but there is no available exploit.
By approaching the search of inurl:admin/htaccess/bpsunlock.php it is possible to find vulnerable targets with Google Hacking. The commercial vulnerability scanner Qualys is able to test this issue with plugin 13076 (WordPress BulletProof Security plugin Multiple Vulnerabilities).
Upgrading to version .51 eliminates this vulnerability.
