A vulnerability was found in Jasper up to 1.900.1 (Programming Tool Software). It has been classified as critical. Affected is an unknown code of the component Flow. Multiple off-by-one errors in the (1) jpc_dec_cp_setfromcox and (2) jpc_dec_cp_setfromrgn functions in jpc/jpc_dec.c in JasPer 1.900.1 and earlier allow remote attackers to execute arbitrary code via a crafted jp2 file, which triggers a heap-based buffer overflow.
The weakness was published 12/08/2014 by Jose Duart with Google Security Team as confirmed advisory (CERT.org). The advisory is shared for download at ocert.org. This vulnerability is traded as CVE-2014-9029 since 11/20/2014. The exploitability is told to be easy. It is possible to launch the attack remotely.
