Details
A vulnerability classified as problematic has been found in IBM WebSphere Service Registry and Repository up to 7.5.0.4 (Application Server Software). This affects some unknown processing of the component Registry. The manipulation with an unknown input leads to a path traversal vulnerability. CWE is classifying the issue as CWE-22. The product uses external input to construct a pathname that is intended to identify a file or directory that is located underneath a restricted parent directory, but the product does not properly neutralize special elements within the pathname that can cause the pathname to resolve to a location that is outside of the restricted directory. This is going to have an impact on confidentiality. The summary by CVE is:
Multiple directory traversal vulnerabilities in the ServiceRegistry UI in IBM WebSphere Service Registry and Repository (WSRR) 7.5.x through 7.5.0.4, 8.0.x before 8.0.0.3, and 8.5.x before 8.5.0.1 allow remote authenticated users to read arbitrary files via unspecified vectors.
The weakness was shared 12/24/2014 (Website). It is possible to read the advisory at xforce.iss.net. This vulnerability is uniquely identified as CVE-2014-6155 since 09/02/2014. The exploitability is told to be easy. It is possible to initiate the attack remotely. Required for exploitation is a authentication. The technical details are unknown and an exploit is not publicly available. The pricing for an exploit might be around USD $5k-$25k at the moment (estimation calculated on 04/09/2022). The attack technique deployed by this issue is T1006 according to MITRE ATT&CK.
