A vulnerability, which was classified as critical, was found in Zabbix up to 1.8.20 (Network Management Software). This affects an unknown function of the file chart_bar.php of the component Chart. The manipulation of the argument periods with an unknown input leads to a sql injection vulnerability. CWE is classifying the issue as CWE-89. The product constructs all or part of an SQL command using externally-influenced input from an upstream component, but it does not neutralize or incorrectly neutralizes special elements that could modify the intended SQL command when it is sent to a downstream component. Multiple SQL injection vulnerabilities in chart_bar.php in the frontend in Zabbix before 1.8.22, 2.0.x before 2.0.14, and 2.2.x before 2.2.8 allow remote attackers to execute arbitrary SQL commands via the (1) itemid or (2) periods parameter.
The weakness was shared 01/02/2015 (Website). It is possible to read the advisory at support.zabbix.com. This vulnerability is uniquely identified as CVE-2014-9450 since 01/02/2015. The exploitability is told to be easy. It is possible to initiate the attack remotely. No form of authentication is needed for exploitation.
