Details
A vulnerability classified as critical was found in Novell openSUSE 13.2 (Operating System). This vulnerability affects the function GstMapInfo. The manipulation with an unknown input leads to a memory corruption vulnerability. The CWE definition for the vulnerability is CWE-119. The product performs operations on a memory buffer, but it can read from or write to a memory location that is outside of the intended boundary of the buffer. As an impact it is known to affect confidentiality, integrity, and availability. CVE summarizes:
The Gst.MapInfo function in Vala 0.26.0 and 0.26.1 uses an incorrect buffer length declaration for the Gstreamer bindings, which allows context-dependent attackers to cause a denial of service (crash) or possibly execute arbitrary code via unspecified vectors, which trigger a heap-based buffer overflow.
The weakness was disclosed 01/27/2015 as Bug 1177840 as not defined bug report (Bugzilla). The advisory is shared for download at bugzilla.redhat.com.
