The nss_dns implementation of getnetbyname in GNU C Library (aka glibc) before 2.21, when the DNS backend in the Name Service Switch configuration is enabled, allows remote attackers to cause a denial of service (infinite loop) by sending a positive answer while a network name is being process.
The weakness was released 02/24/2015 as Bug 17630 as not defined bug report (Bugzilla). The advisory is available at sourceware.org. This vulnerability is traded as CVE-2014-9402 since 12/17/2014. The exploitability is told to be easy. It is possible to launch the attack remotely. The exploitation doesn't require any form of authentication. The technical details are unknown and an exploit is not available.
