A vulnerability, which was classified as critical, has been found in Betster 1.0.4. This issue affects some unknown functionality of the file showprofile.php of the component profil. The manipulation of the argument username with an unknown input leads to a sql injection vulnerability. Using CWE to declare the problem leads to CWE-89. The product constructs all or part of an SQL command using externally-influenced input from an upstream component, but it does not neutralize or incorrectly neutralizes special elements that could modify the intended SQL command when it is sent to a downstream component. Multiple SQL injection vulnerabilities in Betster (aka PHP Betoffice) 1.0.4 allow remote attackers to execute arbitrary SQL commands via the id parameter to (1) showprofile.php or (2) categoryedit.php or (3) username parameter in a login to index.php.
The weakness was published 03/12/2015 as confirmed posting (Bugtraq). The advisory is shared at securityfocus.com. The identification of this vulnerability is CVE-2015-2237 since 03/08/2015. The exploitation is known to be easy. The attack may be initiated remotely. No form of authentication is needed for a successful exploitation. Technical details as well as a public exploit are known. MITRE ATT&CK project uses the attack technique T1505 for this issue.
A public exploit has been developed by ZeQ3uL and been published before and not just after the advisory. The exploit is available at exploit-db.com. It is declared as proof-of-concept. The vulnerability was handled as a non-public zero-day exploit for at least 6 days. During that time the estimated underground price was around $0-$5k. By approaching the search of inurl:showprofile.php it is possible to find vulnerable targets with Google Hacking.
