A vulnerability, which was classified as critical, was found in JBoss Expressions up to 4.5.3 (Application Server Software). This affects an unknown function of the component RichFaces. The manipulation of the argument do with an unknown input leads to a code injection vulnerability. CWE is classifying the issue as CWE-94. JBoss RichFaces before 4.5.4 allows remote attackers to inject expression language (EL) expressions and execute arbitrary Java code via the do parameter.
The weakness was disclosed 03/26/2015 by Takeshi Terada as Bug 1192140 as not defined bug report (Bugzilla). It is possible to read the advisory at bugzilla.redhat.com. This vulnerability is uniquely identified as CVE-2015-0279 since 11/18/2014. It is possible to initiate the attack remotely. No form of authentication is needed for exploitation. Technical details of the vulnerability are known, but there is no available exploit. The attack technique deployed by this issue is T1059 according to MITRE ATT&CK.
The commercial vulnerability scanner Qualys is able to test this issue with plugin 150223 (RichFaces Remote Code Execution Vulnerabilities).
Upgrading to version 4.5.4 eliminates this vulnerability.
