A vulnerability was found in Websense Web Security up to 7.x (Anti-Malware Software). It has been rated as critical. Websense TRITON AP-WEB before 8.0.0 does not properly restrict access to files in explorer_wse/, which allows remote attackers to obtain sensitive information via a direct request to a (1) Web Security incident report or the (2) Explorer configuration (websense.ini) file.

The weakness was disclosed 03/26/2015 as not defined mailinglist post (oss-sec). The advisory is shared for download at securify.nl. This vulnerability is handled as CVE-2015-2748 since 03/26/2015. The attack may be launched remotely. No form of authentication is required for exploitation. There are known technical details, but no exploit is available. The MITRE ATT&CK project declares the attack technique as T1592.

The vulnerability scanner Nessus provides a plugin with the ID 83740 (Websense TRITON Unauthorized File Disclosure), which helps to determine the existence of the flaw in a target environment. It is assigned to the family CGI abuses.

Upgrading to version 8.0.0 eliminates this vulnerability.
