A vulnerability classified as critical was found in Adobe Flash Player up to 13.0.0.x/17.0.0.x (Multimedia Player Software). This vulnerability affects some unknown functionality. Adobe Flash Player before 13.0.0.281 and 14.x through 17.x before 17.0.0.169 on Windows and OS X and before 11.2.202.457 on Linux allows attackers to execute arbitrary code or cause a denial of service (memory corruption) via unspecified vectors, a different vulnerability than CVE-2015-0350, CVE-2015-0352, CVE-2015-0353, CVE-2015-0354, CVE-2015-0355, CVE-2015-0360, CVE-2015-3038, CVE-2015-3041, CVE-2015-3042, and CVE-2015-3043.
The weakness was presented 04/14/2015 by Steven Vittitoe (instruder) with Alibaba Security Research Team (Website). The advisory is available at helpx.adobe.com. This vulnerability was named CVE-2015-0347 since 12/01/2014. The attack can be initiated remotely. No form of authentication is required for a successful exploitation. Technical details are unknown but a public exploit is available.
A public exploit has been developed in Ruby. It is possible to download the exploit at securityfocus.com. It is declared as proof-of-concept. The vulnerability was handled as a non-public zero-day exploit for at least 77 days. During that time the estimated underground price was around $25k-$100k. The vulnerability scanner Nessus provides a plugin with the ID 82781 (Adobe Flash Player <= 17.0.0.134 Multiple Vulnerabilities (APSB15-06)), which helps to determine the existence of the flaw in a target environment. It is assigned to the family Windows. The commercial vulnerability scanner Qualys is able to test this issue with plugin 123524 (Adobe Flash Player Multiple Remote Code Execution Vulnerabilities (APSB15-06)).
Upgrading eliminates this vulnerability. Furthermore it is possible to detect and prevent this kind of attack with TippingPoint and the filter 19488.
