Use-after-free vulnerability in the MutationObserver::disconnect function in core/dom/MutationObserver.cpp in the DOM implementation in Blink, as used in Google Chrome before 42.0.2311.135, allows remote attackers to cause a denial of service or possibly have unspecified other impact by triggering an attempt to unregister a MutationObserver object that is not currently registered.

The weakness was disclosed 05/01/2015 by Saif El-Sherei with Google (Website). The advisory is shared for download at googlechromereleases.blogspot.com. This vulnerability was named CVE-2015-1243 since 01/21/2015. The attack can be initiated remotely. No form of authentication is required for a successful exploitation. There are known technical details, but no exploit is available. The current price for an exploit might be approx. USD $5k-$25k (estimation calculated on 05/10/2022). It is expected to see the exploit prices for this product increasing in the near future.
